One really interesting moment in Rena’s story is at one point you can find Dias and Claude eating parfait in a cafe. A remake could go deeper into these interesting villains. Most of the information comes from a side quest the requires you to have one of the harder to obtain characters in your party. I would love it if we could expand more upon Energy Nede’s unique setting and make it feel more like a second half to the game rather than just one final push before the final bosses.Īnother flaw in SO2 is the fact that a lot of the more interesting details on the game’s final bosses, the Ten Wise Men, is largely hidden from the games critical path. While there is a descent amount of places to go though, you ultimately spend most of your time here doing a big fetch quest collection a bunch of mcguffins and watching flashbacks that tell you things that you sort of already figured out about whatever character you chose to play as.

So if you’ve played SO2 you known that it has a second world map, called Energy Nede, near the end of the game. This leaves us with an important question though: what would we want out of such a thing? I have a couple thoughts. But, I mean, that’s such a waste though! Remakes are pretty big these days, so why don’t we try out a remake for Star Ocean 2. So obviously the first thought would be to roll right into a Star Ocean Second Evolution R after First Departure R.

That’s the only game in the series people don’t get super mad at! How could they do this do us!

Everybody here is super smart so you’ve probably already caught on to the fact that while we’re getting SO First Departure R, the market outside of Japan has never actually had a digital release of Star Ocean 2. The reasoning given at the Star Ocean Fes was that because it was the only game in the series, in Japan, that didn’t have a digital release they decided to go ahead and make this “R” version. So a couple of months ago we had the announcement for Star Ocean First Departure R.
